do something similar to www.pitchforkmedia.com with mysql? basically i want to have a bunch of reviews that are searchable and sorted by letter and that authorized users could add a review without knowing HTML. does that make sense? i'ms ure there has to be something out there that can do this but i'm not finding it - anyone have any ideas?

I totally agree, this would be a great hack. I had asked for it awhile back in the hack requests forum, but I didn't get a very good response. I am going to try this one on my own.
