View Full Version : Importing from Infopop (groupee)

I've finally decided to switch from Infopop to vB.:D
Although I did a search on importing from infopop, I didn't get all my questions answered, so I think I'll just ask my few questions in a new thread.
How difficult is it to import from Infopop version 1.2.10?
Can I do it myself (I've never done anything like it)? I'm not sure what it entails to know if I can do this on my own.
If it's not advisable for a newb to do it on her own, how can I have someone import it for me, and approximately how much does it cost?
If I can install it on my own, is there a tutorial or something that's clear enough for newbies like me to know what I need to do?That's all the questions I have for now, and will add questions if I come up with them..
Thanks

1. I'm not familiar with that version. Jerry should be able to help.
2. The vast majority of customers are able to do the imports themselves.
3. We do not have an import service available at this time, but we are available for help and support if you need it.
4. Please view the online instructions here:

And please read the Importing HOWTO thread:

I honestly don't know if the IPB 1.3 importer will be able to do that, though if are willing to give me a copy of the database I can test it for you to see if it can be done, or if the importer can be quickly modified to be able to do it.

Oh yea !!! doh.
Ok, I've had my coffee now.
Then its EVE. It's lightly, though the eve schema has changed weekly at some points I've done my best to keep up, but the importer is designed to work with the latest version that can be downloaded and backed up.
All I can do is test it for you.
Though if its the latest version of groupee then I'll write a whole new importer for it !

So do I PM you with the information? What exactly do you need to know?

I would need a copy of the database, if you can host it some where and PM me the URL I can download it and run the import on it and test that it works.

I am trying to do the same. Trying to import Infopop to VB3 clean install. But I can't figure out in the IMPEX folder which one to use. There is no folder for INFOPOP under the SYSTEMS folders with in IMPEX. Which one do I use?
By the way, I only have a BACKUP file of the data.

What are you using exactly? ubb.classic, ubb.threads, ubb.x, or eve?
Infopop makes a bunch of products..

Sorry, it is UBB Threads. I can't find anything on importing from a backup file on my local pc to my webserver.
I've got Impex installed, but I can't find anything to browse the backup file I have.

You can't import a SQL backup file, you need to restore that file to a database on the server with vBulletin.

You should still have a support ticket somewhere. I lost my link when my hard drive crashed.
