What should i do?

Hi,

I'm planning to purchase a vBulletin leased license very soon but i don't know if i should purchase it now or later because vBulletin 3.5.0 is under development and i'm pretty sure it would take a few months to complete and is much better than 3.0.7 in features. If i were to purchase the vBulletin leased license now and download and use 3.0.7 and then upgrade to 3.5.0 when it is released, I will be forced to remove uShop because I plan to be using that on my forum but the people at the vBulletin support forum are saying that 3.5.0 is coded differently and they will have to make the mods again for 3.5.0 because of this.

What should i do?

1 - Stick with vBulletin 3.0.7

Purchase vBulletin now and install vBulletin 3.0.7 and then install and forget about upgrading to 3.5.0 and having to reinstall the uShop mod. By the time i will be able to upgrade to 3.5.0 i will have alot of users and they won't be too happy when they lose all their points :D

OR

2 - Stick with vBulletin 3.0.7 and upgrade later

Purchase vBulletin now and install vBulletin 3.0.7 and setup all the forums and then when 3.5.0 comes out, I'll upgrade to that and then install the uShop that works for 3.5.0

OR

3 - Wait for vBulletin 3.5.0 to be released!

Simply wait for the damn thing to get released and then buy the license.. :D


Which option should i go for? Your help in this matter is highly appreciated :cool:

Why wait at all? Buy vBulletin, download vBulletin 3.5.0 beta 3 and run it :) best route!

I´m sure that ushop is currently beeing ported to vB 3.5 as Ucash already is.

In your place, i would go with the Beta of 3.5.

As you´re new i suppose you also want to make some changes, so, consider also that if you start with 3.0.7 you may have to redo all the work when upgrading to 3.5.

I guess I will just buy vBulletin now and install 3.5.0 Beta 3 and then wait for 3.5.0 to be released and wait for the uShop to be released for 3.5.0 but won't that waste a bit of time on the license since i'm planning on going for the leased license..

Then hold off on buying it until vBulletin 3.5.0 and uShop comes out for that version.

Doing any major designs, mods, etc. to 3.0.7 will only make things more difficult when upgrading to 3.5.0. I would suggest holding off in that case, save yourself some time and hassle, and wait for 3.5.0 and uShop to come out. :)

Actually Link currently is working on porting over uShop. He's I think 85% done...but don't quote me on that.
