Transfer vBulletin License to another site

I want to transfer my current vBulletin license to another site, but I don't want to lose data of my current forum. Can I just close it off in the Admin CP and then transfer it to my other site? And then possibly re-open it up later when I buy an additional license.

If you currently have a vbulletin license/customer number, then login to the members area, change the site for which you originally intended the license then you can reopen it.

What I meant was... I currently have a license and a forum up and running, but I want to close it off (via ACP) and transfer the license to another installation. Can I do this, or do I have to delete the software off my other site and then do this?

You need to delete it from the old site - even if it's closed. The only exception would be if the site is a private test site that is not publicly accessible.
