Hi, I'm a phpbb user and I'm thinking of buying vb. With phpbb, everytime a mod was added it became more and more difficult to upgrade. Is that the same with vb? Also, does vb come with an option that prevents the forum format to be broken? For example if someone posts a large image or long link.
Thanks for any info!

Long links will be displayed in a shortened form. You can controll the upload and display of pictures in the admin panel, so there wonīt be any problem there.
As for the updates, for now itīs more or less the same as with phpBB, but with the Beta of the new version coming out in the next days or weeks (and, differently from phpBB, which I used for years, promises like this seem to be kept here ;) ) that is about to change also, apparently.

Thanks for the info. Can I control the way images are posted only via new posts or also all my old posts that I'll import?
Ignore link below...just testing to see how vb handles a long link.

I think just new ones, but someone else might know better.

As far as hacking and upgrading, we are not responsable for third party code you have. However personally I feel making modifications to vBulletin is much simplier than phpbb.
If you keep good notes on all of your file edits, upgrades even with hacked versions can take a short time. Mine usually take an hour, starting with fresh files and redoing hacks instead of a file comparsion job. :) But my sites are not insanely hacked.
