Hi, Before, when I used UBB i had about 6000 - 10000 pageviews per day.
Now that I have Vbulletin, I have 600-900 page views per day.
What happened ?? I have more visits and posts than ever now that I use vb ?? Is it possible that my webhost stats (Statistics by http-analyze 2.2, Copyright © 2000 by RENT-A-GURU®) has a problem with php files, and doesn't count eacch thread as a page view, because of the after ?xxxx problem ?

Hello, that sucks:(
I would not have thought so, as soon as the counter is loaded it Increments 1 to the file....

No, it counts every page view.
It is still recording the "showthread.php" file as a page view, though it does ignore the "?threadid=xxxx". So you won't be able to track the most popular threads, for instance, but you can still track "index.php", "showthread.php", "forumdisplay.php", etc.
Other than that, I'd make sure that you are interpreting the stats correctly.

what about if you put the counter in a header file in the control panel?

There is definetely a problem.
My site is 100% vbulletin, and I know users spend lots of time on my site making lots of pageviews.
My stats report 876 sessions for yesterday, but ONLY 935 page views.
This is impossible.
At the very MINIMUM, I would say I have 3 pageviews per sessions, so I should have at LEAST 2500 page views.
Does anyone know a remotely hosted stat programms which would work well with vbulletin ?

What stats program are you using now? If you have access to your server log files, I would analize them with a program like WebTrends. If not, I also use http://www.sitemeter.com which can put a little image in your footers to better track visitors and page views.

Webalizer or WebLog are two good programs. Make sure your log program is checking all the file extensions (.php / .php3 / and others). If it is only checking .htm or .html then that may be the reason. Hopefully soon (summer release ??) stats will be integrated within vBulletin.

Benj - I too use futurequest and the http analyze stats software only tracks html files. since there are no static pages in vBulletin like there were in UBB, it's hard to track all the pages.
I would take the suggestion for a header counter as a temporary fix until either stats are part of the vBulletin package or futurequest get's a better stats program.

i just bought and installed vbulletin 4 days ago and also use http-analyse.. when i was installing and configuring http=analyse for my forum's domain http://animeboards.net/forums i was following the instructions on the rackspace.com web site and have to make sure http-analyse was tracking .php, .php3, .shtml, .shtm, .htm and .txt files as well.
It's reporting 5,500+ pageviews/day
if you want to use a reliable tracker use http://www.webtrendslive.com to do it... i am going to add it later - but it does slow the loading of your page just a tad sometimes
