Can we hide this forum ?

I can find lot of unwanted posts on search :( or some option to hide those results on hitting for new posts.

Why would we hide it? People need to hqve the opportunity to test out some features. You can just mark that forum read when you next log in.

What he means is that he doesn't want to see the posts in that forum when going to http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/search.php?do=getnew

Mark the forum as read and the problem is temporarly solved. :p

I guess this means that giving members the option to not show threads from specific forums in new posts search will not be a feature for 3.5 (??)

This would've been a very handy feature, particulary for boards which have different audiences for different forums / catergory sections.

Can this be done to disinclude a forumid, or only to include specific ids.
The first option would be preferred...

Exclude the test forum from new posts:

This needs to be user manipulative, remembered at each visit.

What is needed is an option in forum subscriptions...
- Do not show in`New Posts' Search
(Opting in Parent cat will affect all subforums, or opt in each individual subforum)
Members should also be able to go to their UserCP -> Subscription Options
and make their choices through a simple check-box menu of all Fourms.

... and for those at the other end of the spectrum ...

- Receive email notification of All Posts Per Forum

and make their choices through a simple check-box menu of all Fourms.
(With admin optiona l- Subscription Opt-in - Email Confirmation Required upon selection)

Another benefit of opting to select/remember forums Not to include in New Posts Search ...
Member can save, ie, not Mark as Read - the better selected New Posts not read for a later visit.

Consider this...

The New Posts link is already a popular way to visit web based forums, and improvements in it's use for members will undoubtably lead to increased membership, if, by joining they can be more selective in what will (not) show up in a New Posts Search.

The suggestions here should be made in the Suggestions and Feedback forum where they are more likely to be seen by the developers.

This features are already recommended in suggestions forums :), will be better if this thread is as well moved there.
