WHAT ARE memberlist.php URL COMMANDS?

I am straight up getting frustrated....
So can some one at least point me tward some documentation on how memberlist.php works when doing a search?
what are the commands?
How do you initiate a "OR" command or a != command when searching.
How does this search work with customfields using the questions I asked.
IF you KNOW can you show a example please.
