Ive asked this before and am now asking again,
Is there anyone here who has a medium / large vb running efficiently with a u.k. hosting company ?
Unless I go dedicated, there doesnt seem to be much on offer thats suitable.
Anyone ?

Hi,
At the moment I dont know because my forum isnt up and running yet, it nearly was until fasthosts said "woops sorry, no php mail".
I can see it having a minimum of 500 members who could easily be on line and posting / reading all at the same time. Big avatars and big attachments will not be allowed.
I need a host who will help me out instead of booting me off if I get too big or too busy. Im not interested in 'at home' resellers.
Cheers

Hmm 500 at one time a VPS or Dedicated would be good
But if it isn't online, and you have not started your board i'd start off with shared

Thats exactly what i want, start off with shared and then go dedicated when needed, but after speaking to many tech guys who dont know the way their servers are set up, it leaves me not trusting any of them.
Got any suggestions ?
Cheers

Now, I'm not talking about everyone, but it seems to me that alot of UK based hosts have servers in the US.
This is just an obeservation.

I am currently using http://www.donhost.co.uk for a host. I do not have any problems with vbulletin. My mysql db is 40mb and I am using around 6000mb of transfer per month. I was going to purchase a reseller package, but am opting to move state side instead for more bandwidth at a cheaper costs. They really put it to you for the extra bandwidth. Their ip traces out to Amstradam.
Up time....I have been up 99.9% since August with them. I did run into a problem last week where someone on the shared server was hogging all of the bandwidth. An email to them and the problem was taken care of.
