I received word this evening that my hosting company had problem with my server and it was down for several hours. Then I learned that they had not backed up the site in several days even though they had communicated that complete backups were done every night. Bottom line I lost all posts and new member information for the past week! Needless to say I'm perturbed and looking for a safer alternative.
Any suggestions on fast and safe server solution from end users that are satisfied customers will be appreciated. Pricing information is helpful but I can investigate that once I know the hosting company to look at. Thanks for any input. :)

Hi,
you will get more of a response if you post this in the correct forum vBulletin Hosting Options (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=11)

and it hath been moved!
Unless you are paying your host specificly to provide you with backups don't count on the host. Most hosts do weekly backups. I myself run backups 3 times a week.
Look for several hosts that meet your needs well then research the lot of them and see what comes up :)

Thanks Zachery. I shouldn't have depended on their word about daily backups.

Reminds me it's been a while since I downloaded my automatic nightly tarred, gzipped forum backup. :)
At one time I had my server set up with a cron job to actually FTP into my home PC and UPLOAD the backup. But it stopped working.

We use Host Affection (http://hostaffection.com/), ncangler. They have great support and are pretty quick with the ticket responses. I was burned with our old host after we stopped reselling for them, they pretty much ignored our support tickets, but had no problem taking our money each month. We have been with HA for about 3 months and haven't had any downtime. The prices are pretty reasonable as I go with the "you get what you pay for" mentality.

Thanks all for your input. I had to make a move last weekend and found a good deal of positive input on ASmallOrange.com. I setup an account with them and they have been extremely helpful and responsive. We'll see how it works out over the next few months. This is valuable information for us all to reference from time to time so I'm going to keep tracking the polls, etc. in case another move ever becomes necessary. I'm also backing up regularly now. :)
