I was surfing the net today and someone pointed me @ http://www.freesql.org/
Basically it's a free Mysql host that also does Postgress and will be doing Oracle etc soon:
This looked cool so I'm attempting to set up a test VB forum with the PHP on my server and the Mysql on http://www.freesql.org/
Well it's slow: I don't know if that's a result of the connection accross the internet or the spec of the server.
I have set up Mysql on test webservers previously on my DMZ and refferenced them by IP. Obviously with 100 Meg Nic cards and a connection on the same DMZ the results were pleasing.
Anyways here is my question:
Assuming one places a remote MYSQL server on the Internet in a NOC on one side of the USA and a webserver on the other what type of latency would you expect when running an app like VB? (assuming both are in NOC's with good internet connections)
