View Full Version : Different bandwidth stats after server move

I left my old host because of bandwidth overages. When on the old server, my vBulletin-using site consumed about 25 GB or so per month.

I just got an email from my new host stating that my projected bandwidth this month is 107GB. This is significantly over their highest bandwidth plan of 95GB.

It is the same site, it was simply moved from one host to another. I do not have the time to inquire with my new host today... so I figured I would post here in the meantime, to see if anyone can provide some insight.

I do not know much about bandwidth usage. One thing that crossed my mind was that a huge amount of bandwidth was consumed uploading the database to the new server. Is this possible? If that is not likely, why the massive disparity between hosts? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

with both old and new hosts are they measuring bandwidth as actual usage, average bandwidth or 95th percentile rule ?

Also, many hosts do not count MySQL traffic as bandwidth, they are probably adding this aswell.
