I want to install a fresh installation of vbulletin 3. I already have a database to use for the vbulletin 3 installation, and am deciding which hosting option to use. The database on my PC that I need to upload to launch the forums is in tar format and is 1,025,000 KB in size. How much disk space should I start with on my server?? 2GB, 6GB, 10GB?? The more space, the more expense, so I would like to keep it as small as practical. Thank you for any advise!

Thank you for that link it is helpful.

If my DB on my PC is currently 1,025,000 KB in size in tar format, what does that translate to when uncompressed and installed in the mysql database space?

Roughly the same size since tar files are not compressed.

The DB used to be hosted in forums with this path:
www.olddomain.com/forums (http://www.olddomain.com/forums)
but I now want to host it with the following address
www.newdomain.com/newdirectory (http://www.newdomain.com/newdirectory)
with "newdirectory" NOT having the name "forums" like when it was hosted in the old domain. Will that be a problem, or cause any difficulty, to host the DB not only with a new domain name but a directory in the new domain with a different name?

That's not a problem. Just update the forums URL. If you have edited the cookie domain and path, you might also want to restore these to theeir defauuls - blank and / respectively.
