By this point the thread was taking up to 60 seconds to load, even though the rest of the site is pretty fast....

I had to close it...

Are there size limitations for vB? Thread size? Database Size?

Theres a discussion thread here somewhere about the largest threads on your forums. I believe someone said that threads over 30k get locked up by mysql when scanning but I could be wrong.
