I have a leased license, how can I upgrade to owned? I was told I could but I can't find a option on the sales page for upgrade license, they only have owned and leased.
thanks.

If you purchased your license within the last 30 days, you can upgrade to an owned license. You can do so within the Member Area (http://www.vbulletin.com/members/).
Hope that helps! :)

When you view your license in the Member's Area, you should see an Upgrade/Renew link. If it's been more than 30 days since you purchased the Leased one, you'll have to pay the full $160 to purchase the owned license.

Sorry, that's incorrect. You can only upgrade for the discounted price within 30 days of purchasing your leased license. After that, it's the full $160.

Sorry, I guess he made a mistake...
Directly from the member area:
Upgrade to Owned License -
OFFER: Within the first 30 days of purchasing a leased license, you can upgrade the leased license to an owned license for $85 - a 45% discount on the standard price of $160 if you upgrade in a year's time! Click the upgrade link next to the license for more details.

Reporting what? You purchased the leased option a long time ago. You said so yourself. If you went through the process here to purchase the owned license, you would SEE that it was charging you $160, and you would have to agree to continue the purchase. You could cancel it at any time...
So, where exactly is the scam?

(And if you look at his title that you quoted, Jake is a Support Person, not a Sales Person like you keep saying.)

Perhaps Jake and myself weren't as clear as we'd like ourselves to be.
Jake didn't scam you. He was correct that you can upgrade at anytime. He didn't mention anything about pricing and the period of time you have to qualify for the special offer.
To qualify to upgrade from a leased license to owned license at the rate of only $85.00, it must be done within 30 days of your purchase. Thereafter (After 30 days), it's the full cost of $160.00.
So practically, if you used your leased license for 90 days, it's not worth it to upgrade since you are paying full price for an owned license. You might as well wait till your leased license runs out (or close to it), and then renew for an owned license.

Spike:
If you feel you were scammed, then feel free to open a support ticket at support@vbulletin.com and get this resolved with Ashley Busby.
I'm no representative of Jelsoft or vBulletin so I or do any other licensed user have capacity to help you resolve this issue any further.
I suggest you go ahead and escalate this issue directly with Jelsoft and deal with them directly.

Like Josh said, open a ticket with Jelsoft. They are the only ones that can offer any resolution.

Hello SpikeAshlye,
Thank you for your purchase and apologies for the miscommunication. Please note that any customer replying to pre-sales questions are not official Jelsoft staff and do not give official replies, they are trying to help. If you have an issue with sales you're best of contacting the sales person directly for best results.
By the way, you can recognize Jelsoft staff members by their unique staff avatar and their usertitle. Both Jake and I are hired for support and work on both support and sales.
In order to resolve this as soon as possible for you I could contact Jake and request if he recalls the above paragraph. And I kindly request from you to provide me with the unique support/sales ticket ID number (SID) so I can look up your sales ticket in our ticket system.
Hope to hear from you soon,
SpikeAshlye

Hello again,
You're not a problem, don't worry about that. You're free to discuss this on our web site, but to avoid confusion it is easier to have a central thread or sales ticket.
I've received the SID number in PM from you and contacted Jake who will get into this as soon as he is online again.
Again, thank you for your purchase and interest to upgrade to a owned license.
Also, as you have a license right now you could get priority support for free on our support forums here. You can do so by going to the members area and select 'Priority Support' from the left menu. Fill in the email address you registered with on this web site so you show up licensed to the staff - so you can get full support! (Tip of the day)
All the best,
Jake Bunce

I thought you could upgrade for $85 any time within the year. That was what I intended to say, and apparently I was wrong. :(
If this causes a problem for you, then submit a support ticket and we can deal with it. Sorry about this.

If that's true, then why are the other Jelsoft employees (my linked threads earlier) stating that you can only upgrade for the reduced rate within 30 days of purchasing your leased license?

If that's true, then why are the other Jelsoft employees (my linked threads earlier) stating that you can only upgrade for the reduced rate within 30 days of purchasing your leased license?Because thats the actual policy. ;) As far as i can remember it has always been that way. (30 days)

I work in a sales office, mistakes like these do happen from time to time. I'd recommend you take this offline to discuss with the vbulletin team.
