About 2.5 years now we are using http://www.haisoft.net as our host, it was cheap then and fitted for a small board (at that time).
But we are getting bigger every month, now the traffic is 50-60 GB /month
Space used: 3.14 GB and between 150-300 users online at peak moments.
The site is slow now and with errors sometimes. I don't think they have options for bigger hosting, and it will get very expensive I think.
So what hosts are good also price/quality?
Thanks
Zachery

You are almost looking for a dedicated server right now based on what you have told me.

www.vizaweb.com (http://www.vizaweb.com) has some dedicated servers... you will have to email them for information though
btw their semi-dedi servers might fit your needs :)

I think you definitely need dedicated. http://www.realwebhost.net/ded.php
I am with them for a long time now and can't find anything else out there with so much bang for the buck, they have FULLY managed dedicated servers and amazing support. Don't get roped into unmanaged plans that also sound cheap until you have to add 15 things to the plan just to have an acceptable box. I'm currently on a dual 2.8ghz 2gig ram box and am loving it. Fortunately I have many subscribers on my site that pay for it. You can check out my site's performance here: http://www.apug.org (http://www.apug.org/) (p.s. I did pay for copyright removal)
Good luck!

I'd recommend that you take a look at The Planet's offerings at: www.theplanet.com and ServerMatrix's offerings at: www.servermatrix.com (note that SM is a division of TP).

I think semi-dedicated
We don't have that mutch users online all the time. About 100 in the afternoon and 100-150 evening, sometimes it peaks 150-200. 300 is extreme and short period.
Dedicated is too expensive for us, what are good price/quality hosts for semi- dedicated?
And thanks for the replys

Hey man, that looks good.
$29.95/month fits our budget perfectly, are you a user or an owner of the site?
Do you have an example of a website using this plan. Just to test it a little bit.
Thanks :)
ps: does it matter if the server is in US and our users are all from the netherlands?

I have the Pro Package... ( http://thereal-truth.com )
even though they gaurentee 99.6% uptime or something it seems like it is about 99.9%
Their support is awesome and their servers are fast.
and I dont think it will effect you much since you live in the netherlands.....

I use Host Affection (http://www.hostaffect.com/) which is part of Steadfast Networks (http://www.steadfastnetworks.com/). We get a lot for the money. We are on shared servers. Dedicated is expensive no matter who you go with, unless you are reselling. We did that for 2 years. The customer service is great with HA and the downtime has been nill.

Well I wish I could ask my money back because this is terrible!
What would anyone here do if they paid for a semi dedicated server and did NOT get support at all during the day?
That's right, NO support at all during the day. This guy must be working from the attic after his real job or something, he answers emails only from 17:00 to 23:00 in the evening.
I wish a had never listened to your advise JPT62089 cause this cost us a yearly payment and nothing but trouble so far.
Yesterday we asked to restore our databases, that has to be done at night they say, so ok we said ok. Guess what this morning the restore has stopped (again) somewhere in the middle because the server has killed it.
My sponsors and members are waiting this whole week but the board is still offline, even my old host delivered better support and service!
So people think again before you choose this one!!

It is because VizaWeb is US based. They only have staff in the US. So you would have to wait a while to get a response... When I first recommended Vizaweb I did not know you were in the Netherlands.... Next time please post this in your first post.
I am sorry for anything 'wrong' I might have done...
BTW I talked to VizaWeb about your support because it seemed really weird and they said this:
We just said that his 1 GB database couldn't be restored during the day
for it would crash the server. Most hosts would not even attempt to do this for a customer.

I recommend against paying for a whole year in advance because the web hoster loses incentive to provide you with good service once they take that big payment from you. I prefer paying monthly.

Hi TripleT
I wish I read this threat earlier so I can give you some advice, nobody can tell you which is bad host which is good host . It is all depends. The best way for you is go to http://www.webhostingtalk.com and post there. I am sure you will get a lot of useful info there.
Trust me, I was in ur position before but then I went there, spent couple days asked for help and now I got exactly what I want.
Good luck and let's us know how things go.

It may not be my place to say this, but many people have complained of customer support issues with 1and1. If you google or do a little research you will find people end up not being satisfied with them.

Hmm..They have always been good to me. However, recently I've had some issues and they performed less then what I would call "excellent" however, most tech support is terrible. Who do you guys recommend???
My buddy had wowrack and they are terrible!! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!
Here is what I get for $9.95 a month from 1&1: (I get 50% off posted rate)
