What tips do you have that help reduce server strain?
The forum I am talking about has a lot of members (I think it is in the hundreds of thousands) and in your experience what are the best things to do to reduce the load?

Well, when it comes to forums I am not too clever and I am only a mod at this site, but the server is busy for long periods once or twice a day usually.
How do I find out the server setup?
The forums are here (http://forums.gamewinners.com)

Are you using a dedicated server, or shared web host... ?

Well, all I need to know is what features can be removed that aren't neccessary, and will they help the server at all?
example: Does the calendar take up alot of space?
