vBulletin is a fine fine webware. We know that and thats why we are here! A fine instrument requres a fine environment to run, vBulletin being no exception.

I start this new thread to present a suggestion as well as ask for advice between hosts that i have shortlisted.

First, the suggestion: Just after purchasing vBulletin, jelsoft should present the users with a page to select a host with they might have partnered with. This would obviate the need for ploughing through the vast field of hosts.

Anyways that a call for Jelsoft, from my point of view it would have made my life easier.

Now the selection betwen the shortlisted hosts :

1. Vortech Inc. ( matrixReseller.com ): I have my website, xbhp.com, hosted with them for almost 10 months now. Excellent support. ANd i have got no qualms from their side.

I would most probaby get a UNIX reseller plan from them only.

2. ASO, asmallorange.com : nice looking website. I sent them a sponsorship proposal ( amongst other hosts ). ASO disnt bother to reply. Every other host did, albeit turning down the offer, but at least they did reply.

I have included ASO in the shortlist becuase i think lots of people have a rather good experience with them. But for starters i didnt.

3. realwebhost.com, now many people have actually swore on their name. they presumably are so good! Cant say for sure. I havent tested them out.

So amongst the three what would would u suggest, would i continue with the tested waters of Vortech, or switch to the seemingly ignorant but good ASO or the real value hosts?

Inputs will be much appreciated!

Pair.com: Fast and knowledgeable support. A bit pricey, but worth it.

There was a company that used to do a lot of vbulletins and everyone recommended them. Now I see nothing. Does anyone know which site I'm referring to?

Is there any dedicated solution that blows everyone else out of the water? I've seen people say great and lousy things about almost all hosts. But mine is really giving me too much trouble and I'm about ready to give up after several years with them. But I don't want to switch from the devil I know to another devil. I want an angel. Are there any that have been established for awhile?

Right now I have a webserver and db server, both dual processor. SCSI drives. Big backup drive.

If you're looking for dedicated. I've had really good luck with ThePlanet/ServerMatrix

I've heard really good things about Pair as well, However never been hosted with them personally.

I forgot to mention I need managed hosting. I'm not a unix admin.

ThePlanet does offer managed packages. Or you can look into hiring a third party system admin :) (probally a good idea regardless)

I do some work for some friends of mine, while they both have "managed" servers I've not been overly happy with some of the actions & responses they have given them. I went in and fixed their problems myself.

Does that mean you are a third party sysadmin? And available? :)

Am I? Yes.. But I am not avaible generally.

Might want to try searching at webhostingtalk.com for reputatable sysadmins :)

Yeah but I would trust you more than just anyone :)

Not available generally huh? How about avalailable specifically? ;)
