Hi,
My forum has about 500 members right now and we have about 10-30 new each week. During peak times I have around 40-50 users online. During regular times I have 10-20 users online. Do I need to get dedicated? My current host is phpwebhosting, the server my site is hosted on only has 128 megs of ram! What kind of dedicated hosting would I need? Can you recommend any packages?
Best Regards,
Ray

if mysql is not running on localhost you should be okay. mysql is the part that uses the most resource, unless you're running php as cgi.

I use www.ventureonline.com
You can get by with the dedicated 1 package if you add RAM. i have a custom server from them.

Your revenues cover $600+/mo?

My latest adv. check was $216, and I was ecstatic!

I'm encouraged by the fact they run vB as their support forum; I've already gone and asked a few questions :D.
This is something I've feared having to do, and I think I may be on my way within the next month or so.

I am thinking of going with http://www.venturesonline.com too.. HOSTROCKET.COM SUCKS! they suspended my account due to high mysql traffic. My board had around 400-500 users with an avg. of 30 concurrent users! not much! and they suspended me W/O WARNING! that sucked! I am thinking of leaving them and going to venture. Hopefully I can transfer mysql.
Would I expect the same service from venture? I hope not.. Any input is apreciated!

Esoin if you're already getting 30 concurrents you might want to go for VO's dedicated plan with a ram upgrade... virtual accounts on VO are limited to 45 max user connections.
Plus you'd then have root access to get in there and fix mysql if needed
