One of the things that I have always wanted from UBB but never got was the ability for a member to see the posts that have been made to the forum since they logged on last.
This way if a member frequents the board several times in a day they don't have to see all the posts again but just the ones since they last logged on. They could set this as their default.

Since this information is stored in the members cookie file anyway can this be done or would it be a real pain to implement?

I believe he is asking for a feature such as Ezboard has that allows you to check forum read, and then when you return it will only show new threads in any forum. So when you enter the forum all the threads that have been active will show, but all others will not be listed at all until you hit a link that will show all threads.

I think that is what he is asking at least:)

God I don't describe myself very well...sigh. What I am meaning is in the pull down menu for you to have the ability to select only new messages as your default option instead of the last days worth, last 2 days, etc. so that all that shows up is those threads that have new messages in them since you last logged on. I have noticed the link that allows you to select only new messages but I would like this as the default option to display each time you log on.

I will try to articulate what it is I am wanting better in the future.
