My current host Communitech is going to kick me off for excessive server load.

I'm looking at a dedicated server now. And I'm also looking at moving from UBB to vBulletin.

My current board has about 1300 members with about 50-100 posts/per day.

The server's I'm looking at and that I can afford are RaQ's with 64mb or ram.

Will this type of server be able to support vbulletin? Is it going to bogg down?

Will it run a UBB??

And if it won't run UBB, can I switch my UBB 6 over to vBulletin?

thanks

You should be able to get a relatively cheap Dedicated Server from somewhere

Will a low end server run vBulletin?

with few members, yes.

check out the dedicated1 package at www.venturesonline.com

$200 setup/$200 month

throw in an extra $75 on the setup to get the RAM up to 256 and you should be able to run up to a decent sized-board. if it grows you can add more RAM cheaply with no monthly bump in price.

mySQL doesn't much like RAQ servers.

as of today, there isn't a conversion routine for UBB6 to vB. We're waiting until we have a stable non-beta to add the conversion routine.
