We are running VBulletin version 3.0 on PIII machine with 500 MHrz processor, 128 MB RAM and have a T1 line with 1.54 MB bandwidth. Currently we are using the forum internally and only 10 to 15 users are using it at the same time. We are planning to make it live for our clients which could be between 1500 to 2000. Not all of them will be on line but still initially estimated 10% to 15% will be visiting and joining.
My first question is what is your recomendation for server specs in this scenario and Is it gooing to slow down the vbulletin?
My second question is: Is there a maximum simultanious connection limit on the form? if yes what?

Need your feed back
Thanks

For the first, as much as you can afford :) ? This depends on what you will expect.

And second, not specificly in vBulletin, however it is speicifcly dependant on the server software and hardware configuration.

200 users will be hitting the forum and most of them registering.
Can you give an out line of specs of a standard server for this task?

Thanks

A P4 2.8 or higher 800MHz FSB with hyperthreading.
1 Gig of memory.
80 Gig or more SATA drive or a couple 36 Gig scsi drives. You could probably get away with PATA for a while and upgrade later.
The above will be enough for 200 users.
