Hello,

On my site http://forums.paintballdojo.com I have moved the "Currently Online Users", "Private Messages", and the "Log in Input Fields" at the top of the main Forum index and forumdisplay pages.

The default for VB is to have these that the bottom of the page. Is there any reason for this.

I thought it was better to have this at the top so that the users can get their private messages or see if they have nay new ones right and see how many people are online right away.

Did Jelsoft put it at the bottom strategically for any reason? What do most of you do in regards to this issue on your sites?

Thanks. :)

I have them all at the bottom, only cause I didn't bother to move them. :D But I think it does make sense to have them at the top, and I think they look good there on your site. I only wish I had your numbers. :)

I like your site BTW. Only thing - is there supposed to be like 2 inches of blank/lined grey space between the sports tabs and the Dojo section tabs? That looks a little weird and wastes a ton of screen real estate, even on my 1600x1200 21 inch monitor.

James,

Your site looks really smart, but could you add the copyright text back into the footer please?

Many thanks,
John

Hello John,

Whoops...I'm soooo sorry...I just redid these templates and forgot to add it back in. I promise you I support VB and have always had it in the past.

Sorry about that. I'm upgrading to VB 2.0 and you can see its in there:

Once again sorry...it hasn't been out for that long..maybe 3 weeks. :(

Amazon.com is one of my favorite portal designs...mine has some of those kinds of properties...like scaling tables etc.

But my design is better. ;)

We have the log in at the top and the bottom. I like the convenience of it. We also moved the private messages to the top....My community seems to like it available and easy to find. ;)

We also put the PMs and logged in users at the top -- people like to see that stuff first and makes it more of a community feel knowing the first thing they see is if they have private messages and if their "friends" are online :)

well i put the PM table up the top now but left the online user table at the bottom - too crowded at the top when you get a lot of members online :)
