i had a PhpBB forum but i closed it completely because of worm attacks. i decided to buy Vbulletin but i have few questions & concerns.

First off, my website hosting on win2k3 and all of my website pages are .asp and .aspx. And forums were hosting on sub-folder ( www. mysite . com/forums) but i would like to host Vbulletin forums on a sub-domain for a month or two ( forums. mysite .com ) IN A LINUX HOSTING.

i will re-code my main website then move the main website pages to a linux hosting. And re-move my forums pages from sub-domain to folder ( forums .site .com to www. site .com/forums ).

This will require DB back ups and restores in serveral different hostings.

So, can i do that? will my licence allow that?

Yes you can absolutely do it and yes, the license allows it if you use the files on one server at one time [if mysite.com/forums and site.com/forums point to the same content then it is possible]

:) Good luck with your purchase of vB!

OKey, Thanks so much. Just i need a confirmation from site admins (or mods) then quickly buy teh licence, upload the files and import the old phpbb tables.

Thanks Adguru ;)

The vBulletin license allows you to run 1 instance of vBulletin on a web server that supports PHP and MySQL which is a requirement for vBulletin. You can move your database between servers and domains as much as you want and we even have a manual with instructions on how to dump your database and restore it, and move it between servers. We also give support on this and support on what to change in order to move sites. (just keep in mind you can run 1 instance per license)

We also have ImpEx software which allows you to convert from phpBB to vBulletin for free and comes with free support too.
