View Full Version : Buying vBulletin as a gift

Please help me suppress a paranoia I've been having that's been stopping me from purchasing VB.

I want to buy vB for my son as a gift, whoever in the license agreement vB may only be run by me. I have paid for the server myself, but it is him who manages it.

Would I be breaking the license agreement if he installed it/ran it on MY server? He is not old enough to have a credit card yet, so I have to buy it for him.

We have to leave our home for a holiday tommorow, so a sales rep's response might be a little slow, as we want to order it tonight.

Please confirm that this part of the license agreement ("The Software is licensed only to you. You may not rent, lease, sub-license, sell, assign, pledge, transfer or otherwise dispose of the Software in any form, on a temporary or permanent basis, without the prior written consent of Jelsoft.") is not applicable in this situation.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to a particuarly swift reply.

I replied to your ticket.

I don't see a problem. We can change the owner information on the license after you purchase it.

When I purchased my license I used my fathers credit card (with his permission) and I did not run into any issues. I simply contacted the staff through the ticket system in the members area and requested to update the customer details (which they did).

Thank you for your interest in the forum software and we are looking forward to your purchase.

Your son is very lucky to have a father like you. There are many out there that wish vBulletin but do not have a credit card (or a father willing to share it).

Thank you for the purchase and welcome to the vBulletin community.

Good luck setting things up.
