I have a vB with a current license at a domain that I am about to shut down because I'm re-launching the site concept under a different domain name.
Can I move the board, it's contents/members to my new domain without violating the lease terms? (At no time will the board be active at TWO separate domains.)
I currently have 2 active vB's, and I'm about to purchase a 3rd, so in this 'specific' instance, I'm not trying to get around purchasing a new lease, as much as I'm trying to avoid starting from scratch with design, member database, etc...
Thanks!

Hi there,
As per license agreement you are permitted to run 1 instance of vBulletin per license.
And as per license agreement you are permitted to run 1 temporary development instance (away from the public) aside your 1 instance of vBulletin per license.
The above means that we allow a small grace period for a customer to move his or her site from one domain or host to another without running the risk of breaking the license agreement.
We understand your situation and as you say yourself, one forum is closed, but installed, until it is successfully moved to the new domain name or moved to the new hosting account. Once that is done, you can remove the old setup and start using the new setup.
Thank you for asking to be sure! If you get contacted with a DMCA notice, reply to that email with the customer and license numbers, and link back to this thread. This would explain it to the anti piracy company IF they contact you.
Don't forget to update the license details in the members area here on vBulletin.com so they point to the right URL.

Excellent! Thank you for your speedy reply.
I can cross this issue off of my 'to do' list for the new site. :)
One more quicky...
I need to upgrade the board to the current vB version. Would it be best to do that BEFORE the domain move or AFTER (or does it matter)?
Also, upgrading wipes out my hacks and graphic customization - yes?

I'd upgrade before you change domain name. The upgrade script requires that the domain resolves properly to the new IP (or the IP to the new domain).

Moving virgin vBulletin forum from old_domain_name to new_domain_name, I planned to install vb at new_domain_name, then use Impex to import the data from old_domain_name. Will this work?
Any hints on replacing all instances of old_domain_name with new_domain_name, and/or replacing other customization?
Is there a FAQ?
Jack.
