It would be very nice with an image upload possibility
Some way the users can upload images to include in there posts
Has anyone done this??

I have mixed feelings on this. If it were added as a feature, it would have to be something that could be toggled in the CP. Not everyone has a server that can handle so many images.
Also, if it were added, there would have to be some way to prune the images when pruning posts so that you didn't get clogged up with old images.

I don't remember his name, but there was a guy who created an attachment hack for the UBB (started with a "k"). The great thing about this hack is that it allowed each member to have "X" amount of files in their upload directory and the "X" was configurable in the file.
It would be a great option if you could have it in the CP where you can enter a number for how many files and which type of files you want each person to be able to upload.
If you wanted to even enhance it more, give a different "X" for admins, mods, active members and junior members.
Attachments are huge on our site, and I would really love to see this added.

That would be Kyton.... I really like and use the attachment hack he created for the UBB... I'd really like to see this added into vB.... of course with control panel options to turn it on/off, limit file size and number of files allowed per post and per user. For an example of how this looks, head over to http://www.progresstalk.com

that UBB hack looks very nice - with editing/formating possibilities for the text - but to me a possible image upload - as described above - would be fine
that "fancy" hack could be later

Right now I'm still using Ythan's old image upload hack from months ago on my UBB. Any type of image upload is a necessity on our board.

I think that this is around as the avatar hack, although I'm not sure if that is complete yet. It should be added to a future version though.

Wonderful. I can't wait until something like attachments is added.
That's the one thing I need to have before I even think of cutting over from UBB. My girls need to be able to attach or upload their pictures.

I wouldn't want images in the regular part of our board, but as a community building device it would be great if there was a field in the profile (admin on/off switch, of course)where memebrs could upload (admin size limited, of course) image to be stored in their profile.
This could really be a community builder, and fun!
p.s. I am still on UBB but very interested to see where VB goes in the next few months. We just may switch over as our upgrade licence expires...
Plus, I love all the features VB offers!

Obviously it would be turned on and off by an admin, and limits need to be in place.
But, having both a image in the profile, and the ability to upload pictures into a forum would be great.
Housekeeping could be a problem though, with possible unused images sitting on the server if posts are deleted.

Especially to keep the vB running cross-platform.
PHP uses unlink to delete files from the server. The PHP manual mentions that unlink might not work on NT boxes.
I can't test it to see because I have this pathological aversion to corrupting my mind with exposure to such an insidiously bad bit of code masquerading as a commercial product that everyone knows is ...
*ahem* sorry, got a little carried away :p
