Is vBulletin worth every penny? I mean i've tried the admin demo and its great and all, but what makes it cost so much money? I want the damn program but I'm pissed off deeply that it costs so much. Oh yea sorry if i posted this in the wrong place i'm a newbie and I'm not used to this place.

It is worth every penny and more! The reason it costs so much money is because of the great people and support you will recieve when you download it. I read that Scott MacVicar has development servers to test out the next big thing he is coding for vB. Trust me, this will be an excellent purchase. The only regret that I have is that I bought a leased license. Oh well, I can always buy an owned soon. I am a hooked vBulletin user!

I used the admin demo.
A friend has been letting me use his copy for about a week to get into more.

I have a check here I am depositing in the morning to rush home to get my own copy. I am paying the $160 to own a copy. :D {Fingers crossed it will NOT take a whole 2 days}

Staff here was great in answering all my Q's up to this point.
Like most investments, I have studied this & asked several VB owners & ALL have said it is a wonderful product.
(BTW, any bonus points for refferrals) I was referred by 2 people.

:D :D

the support i have gotten alone has been worth the owned licence fee.

the only thing you will need to pay for if you get the owned licence is for upgrades after the first 12 months.

let me clarify you get tech support for life of the owned licence but afte rthe first year if you wish to upgrade wiu will have to pay 30.00 USD BUT you DON'T HAVE to upgrade after that year if you dont want to. and you can pay the 30.00 USD at ANY time (method pending IE offline takes 2 days AFTER vB deposits your check :::: online payment in 24 hrs tops) and get a year to upgrade your forums.

vBulletin itself is worth more than the 160.00 we are paying for the license! Goodness, (don't get any wise ideas here Jelsoft) but the product plus support here is valued a WHOLE lot more than 160.00.

Frankly if you think it costs too much money, go check out competiting products like UBB. They cost a heck a lot more, and you don't get nearly half the amount of service, respect, and product quality than you receive from Jelsoft.

I got to agree VB is worth every penny, we not long been using it ourselfs, and we come from IPB, but after the few days of getting used to where things are we wonder why we used IPB for as long as we did, and nope it was not cos its was free :P

Every penny multiplied by three quite honestly. My site was chugging along quite nicely using XMB, then I migrated it to vB2 in Feb of this year, as a prelude to upgrading to vB3 two months later (at the time the only XMB to vB import scripts were to vB2). From that point on, it really took off. I shall be renewing my licence in January when it expires, and may even go for an owned one this time.

To think, I dithered for nearly a year about whether to take the plunge.

I agree, it's definitely worth it. As for "pay" boards go the price is very reasonable, you also get something that isn't open source and that has many benefits as well. I just bought another license today as a matter of fact :)

I will launch my first vB forum at the end of the month and I have had nothing but excellent service. The impex has been updated to import my old forums (on my request - that was pretty awesome) and the help you get in this place is above and beyond all the competition.

Go for it!

OK, thanks. I may use vBulletin one day. One vBulletin site (ZeldaUniverse) gets new members everey DAY. I get new members (Invision Power Board) every 2-3 MONTHS. Just goes to show the vBulletin IS better. And it doesn't have FTP Access, so people don't like it. Well, I'm eventually gonna get vBulletin. I don't have the money right now.

Well, when you do get the money, come and use vBulletin. Oh, and buy a owned license and save yourself the hassle of paying $85 or $160 at the end of the year!

OK. And if you buy 50 licences its cheapest. But i'd rather just have one. Other wise there'd be so many f'ing forums i wouldn't be able to control them!
