I'm an admin on a vbulletin licensed site and I'm the one in charge of our code level hacks. I'd like to allow the other admins to view and evaluate changes before launching them on the main site.

We're getting ready to go to a new server and I'm considering launching two copies of the database. The primary boards will be public. The second copy will be set to block spiders and if someone does attempt to access this test site they'll be given a chance to log in. If they fail they'll be redirected to the primary forum. Even if they do manage to log in, unless they are an admin they'll be redirected to the primary forum. The idea is that only the admins (we have 8) will be able to see the test forum.

Is this sufficient to keep the test forum from being considered "public" or what measures should I take to remain license compliant?

You are allowed to have a private test forum, Yes.

Yes I believe so. You are allowed to install a second copy of your single vB license as long as it is password protected and in a hidden (not public) directory.

Yes, I'm aware of that - but I'm not using a server password hidden directory - I'm relying on vbulletin itself to do the locking out. That's what I'm wondering about - is that ok?

As Long as new Registrations are Disabled :)
