When I buy a full license for $160.00 can I modify vbulletin into my own version like linux has so many versions of different Linuxs?

Hi Kyrin,

When you purchase vBulletin, you'll have access to all of the source code and you may modify these as much as you please. You are allowed to publish the changes you made to the files at vBulletin.org (http://www.vbulletin.org) (the offical vB "hacking" community) but you are not allowed to redistribute files. You are also not allowed to re-brand or resell your copy of vB with its modifications. So, to answer your question if it's like linux, yes and no. You are allowed to make changes as you please, but you can not redistribute whole versions; all copies of vBulletin must be received from the official site.

You can modify vBulletin. You cannot rebrand it.

ok you know how u can't have it an illegal copy of vB. You can download it on Kazaa. And I know alot of people that download it and set it up on there own server on their computer can they do that?

Not legally. And we actively pursue illegal sites and copyright infringement.

Well what I mean is that. They have it running on their own computer but doesn't let anyone access it. And they tell me that they are only testing it out to see if they think its worth buying. And I know that using its illegal. But I don't agree with one thing that yall do. Don't get me wrong its only in my opinion. But having to buy it just to get hacks on vbulletin.org or any other site that requires you to have license to download hacks and all isn't right. I know yall are doing it to stop piracy but what about bout people that want to use soe of those templates or images for there own site or other forum software cause they can't afford vB. And I know that whats the point of having the hacks if you can't get vB or something like that? Well some people want to look at the source code so they can use a similar code for other forum software. I know yall won't ever do it but in my opinion I doin't agree. But I just want to say I do like your forum software it is the best out thereeven better than phpbb but phpbb is catching up to yall. So I will buy it when I get the money so don't worry I won't do the piracy thing i'll get it legit.

Not sure I understand your line of reasoning. If someone does not have a valid license, then we certainly don't have an obligation to provide them with access to free hacks. That would be stupid. :)
