How to setup a home Server Farm?

I have a couple of machines lieing around, and I am looking to add much more in the future. What I wish to do is be able to utilize the resource simultaneously from any computer that is on the network for rendering, music, audio etc.

They are currently windows machines, mac osx 10.3 machines, and one or two linux.

Can anyone give me a documentation on how to setup this? Also when a computer is in idle to use resources of that computer for processing.

you mean all pcs to act as one for processing the same task or just being able to run several pcs doing different tasks separately from each other ? the first task is probably wanting to cluster the pcs, while other is just networking

probably better to ask this on a hardware or networking forum
