New User Registration Problems

Win2k SP1
PIII - 550
256MB RAM
9GB HD

Problem:

I got the vBB software installed properly with the new 2.0 beta. However, I'm having troubles with registering new users (through the "register" option on the main page).

The user accepts the agreement, selects birthday range, enters his/her information, and then clicks submit. After the submit button has been clicked, the user gets this page:

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.


How do I determine the problem? (and fix it)

Now it looks like my database is messed up because the main site won't load. It gives the same error as the user registration error.

I was able to register just fine

if you have this problem again, view source on the error message and post the source here. that will tell us what the problem was.

It was a very strange thing. I had my buddy on the line and he registered with the problem I mentioned. I also tried to register and got the same error.

I logged into the server and discovered that mySQL services stopped. I didn't shut it down. I wonder if mySQL shuts down if it receives too many errors? Something in the settings perhaps?

Anyway, it's working fine now. I am still unsure as to why I orignally had troubles.
