1)put avatars in a drop down menu.

2)allow admins to change the amount of post required for custom rank/avatar from the control centre.

1) Can you put images in a drop down menu and is the increase HTML worth it?

2) You can under Options -> Custom User Titles and Options -> Avatars.

if you own a board like mine then yeh it is worth it, because we are a game and movie site and it'd be really useful, it also saves page loading time cos only the menu has to load not all the pics, and so also cuts down bandwidth

First off I think you two are talking about something different in terms of putting avatars in a menu. I think ninja means putting a text list (a normal <select>) of avatars, as opposed to showing the images in the menu, as I think wluke thought he meant.

Second, that might not be a bad idea, but I think people want to be able to see what they chose before actually choosing it, and you might get increased bandwidth if someone browses around to see one of their posts, then decides they don't like it, etc.

If someone wants to put the avatars in a drop down they can easily modify the templates to do so.

No. you do not have to touch the PHP files to edit the templates.

The templates are available in the control panel.
