I was listening to my portable CD player, and it was jittering a bit, and i though "an MP3 player wouldn't do that" at the same time i was walking past PC World and thought i'd take a look:

only 128mb ram (although it's only 121 for some reason - i could get 2 more songs on for that :P)
pretty basic, but it fits my needs.
£50 - was i ripped off?
i haven't seen MP3 player prices for a few years, so i don't know how much they go for these days, but it sounded alright to me.
EDIT: it also have a recording option (and in built mic) so i can use it as a dictophone

Don't know what that would be in £ but in Germany those things normally cost 49 to 69 EUR :)
Mine broke very quickly :(

A cheap but quality one that lasts longer then a few months cost about $100 or €100 here. You got a pretty looking one. I usually spend my time behind the PC, so I have a 250gb mp3 player ; just not as portable :)

I'm the type that would stick to bigger companies and name brands I've come to trust, but I do buy the obscure item now and then.
I'd say you got ripped off. Hard. Little MP3 players like that, with more memory, cost a hell of a lot less than $88 USD (Checked on xe.com for the exchange rate). I'd return it and buy something that doesn't scream "I AM A RIPOFF!" at that price.

i just started college (again i might add - i'm 21)
So i wanted something to pass away the boring lectures and bus journey.

Doesn't remove the fact that you were ripped off, sadly.
Seriously, IMO, you should return that and do a little research on a more quality and less expensive device.
EDIT: Grats on post 1000 :)

I've had a look on E-bay, and they're going for about half the price there for buy it now.
At the end of the day, it's only £50. it'd probably cost me the difference a cheap one would make in travel etc ;)

If you have the money it's worth investing in a large capacity one. I've got the iPod 40gb and it's still going strong after a good 9months. I've still only filled up about 10gb of it too. The best thing is, wherever I am, I have my whole music collection with me :)

I had a real nice one that used cd-r/w for the storage method, 700mb of songs on one cd :D. My brother got ahold of it and broke it, then turns around and gets one for christmas  which he also broke :D.
It looks good for the price, could use more storage tho ;/

Got myself a wee Muvo a while back, great sound quality and not too sahbbya price think it was like $75 at the time. Tho Vile did buy me it lol but he got a forum skin for it :D
If your into mp3`s / have a good colection of them. Then mp3 players are just the best. Folk say get a cd player with mp3 playback but its not for me its til a cd and it,ll stil skip and its still a bit too big for most pockets in my opinion :p
Now all you need to do is save and buy a Muvo2 , with 4gb of storage for about £150. Tell you one thing its deff a cheaper solution to the "icon of the 21st century" ipod.

Yeah, the reason i wanted an MP£ player, rather than an MP3 CD player was:
#1: no jitering
#2: much smaller, easy to fit in my pocket
#3: much easier just to add/delete song, rather than going through the hassle or formating an RW then re-burning etc.

Ahem, yes I am the one that bought the Muvo for you :p
And for the record it was more than a measly $75 at the time ;)
For it's size, the Muvo rocks. For large capacity players, definitely iPod or Creative Zen Xtra.

Yeah, I recently bought a 30GB Zen Xtra for $250usd and I love it. The sound quality is superb and it is very easy to use. I haven't had an iPod so I can't compare it... but I am quite pleased with my Zen Xtra.
It's also very small, at least compared to my MP3 cd player. :)
