Getting ready to that is. Kinda scary... I'm gonna back up my DB first of course. Any other tips I should know before starting this thing?
My current phpBB database is about 40MB. Is that gonna transfer over OK or do I need to prune that puppy?

Both the phpBB and vB databases need to be on the same server. Also please view the online instructions here:

Thanks Steve. Just looked through that. Can you tell me what this means?
From "Appendix 5: ImpEx Import System (http://../docs/html/main/impex) / How to Use ImpEx (http://../docs/html/main/impex_guide) / After an Import (http://../docs/html/impex_cleanup)"
Warning:
An import will only ever get a certain amount of information from a source board into vBulletin.
Certain amount? eh?

Not sure what they meant by that. My guess is this refers to the default info. For instance if you have hacked your phpBB to include data that is not in the standard phpBB database, then this info will not be imported.

Well, I just did an import as a test of my entire phpBB database. Looks like everything got transferred over...
One problem I see right off the bat tho: All my forums are empty, as if there are no posts in them, but there are posts in them, I just didn't see any until I selected "Display: From the beginning". Seems as tho the Last Post Column did not update. They all say "01-01-1970". The actual post dates are correct. Just not the Last Post column on each thread. Did I do something wrong?
Update: Prob obvious, but responding to a thread from 1970 does fix this error.

You need to update your thread counters, and then forum counters, AdminCP > Import & Maitence > Update Counters

So updating the counters immediately after an import fixes this?

It's even listed in the instructions:
