Hi Folks,
got this email this morning which highlights a niggling problem we've had for a while:

Subj: Action Required to Activate Membership for AV Forums!

Sent: 2004-08-02 03:46

has encountered a delivery problem.

Reason: Bad sender's mailbox address syntax

The sender's address was syntactically invalid.

Additional info:

The messages has a faked from address (envelope From: address doesn't match message From: address)

The problem address is nobody@avforums.com (avforums.com is our domain). What needs to be changed to set up the sender email address properly on emails from vBulletin?
Thanks.

Try enabling the -f parameter to see if this makes a difference:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Enable "-f" Parameter -> Yes

Thanks, Steve. Is that -f option something in 3.0.2 or 3.0.3 cos we're still on 3.0.1 and I don't see it.

AFAIK this was in 3.0.1 as well. I don't have a 3.0.1 to play with unfortunately.

If you're using 2.3.0 (or later), edit the vbmail() function in functions.php.
