Hivemail.
Hi everyone,
I am after your opinion on the product hivemail. Who here owns a copy of this? What do you think of it?
I am looking to offer my members a name@mydomain.com email address and am leaning towards hive mail.
Things that are putting me off so far are..
I want only paid subscribers to use it. How can I do this? It doesn't look as if the integration into vb is that elaborate to link to usergroups?
Also I am a bit concerned that I posted a question on their forums yesterday and sent them 2 sales emails and have had not a glimer of a reply from either. It makes me wonder about their support if they don't take pre sales seriously.
Opinions?

I have 2 copys of it and its not that easy to skin i find not due to its skin system but due to there basic skin design coding how its done other then that its fine for me. the vb tie in is basicy just on sign up user's can pick to sign up for free e-mail or not.

One thing that's bothered me as of late is that there is little staff feedback. I notice in the forums it's taking a while to get responses. I don't know if the support ticket system is as slow but even still :) Other than that, the product is superb!

It is great software, but I also agree that their support forums seem slow as of late. I did not find it very hard to skin, if you are used to vB, hivemail should not have that much of a learning curve for you.

Doubt I will go with Hivemail. Whilst it looks good, I still have not received any notification of the email I sent to sales@ and my support question has not been answered on their forums.

The fact their requirements contain having php register_globals enabled is a very large negative sign. Granted they do have pop3 done is their only significant counterweight vs hivemail, but then again hivemail has that in the works too (suposedly).

I own myself a copy which I got during a sale. It has the look and feel of vbulletin so quite easy to get around in.
I don't use it live, only on my localhost for my intranet.

I too have a copy, I meant to have it as a member benefit but very few people were really interested. I now just keep it on my server for my own personal use. I bought it when they had that April Fools sale so it cost like $25 or so. I haven't renewed my members access since it expired in April and I'm not sure I ever plan too. I visit the support forums a few times a week and all I hear are people asking when the new version will be done and there are never any definate answers.

Reminds me of vB3

The lack of "real" support and forward progress over there seems to be frustrating a lot of people (me included).
Would be nice if there is problems or major delays that they simply make a detailed post on the matter.
I also got one for $25, so not losing much, but if I had paid full price I guess I'd be a little more hacked off.

I bought one of the $25 sale licenses. Haven't used it.
I'm not sure that I want to give people an email at mydomain. What's to stop people using it for spam and junk and then mydomain getting on the spam blacklist or people thinking it's me spamming them?

Why did you buy it, then?

Why did you buy it, then?$25 was a bargain for the software, and I may use it on another project, or just for my staff members.

I paid the full price. I have to admit that the support and updates are almost non-existant, however it does what I want it to do, and I use it on a daily basis.
As someone mention about paying members, the newest version integrates into vB very well, and you can actually check your mail from vB. It can also be set up to use the usergroup settings, so you can make it so that paid usergroups can access the email.
In reference to users spamming, you can make it so that members of certain groups can only send email to a certain number of users each email, so setting it to something like 5 people would inconvenience if they tried to bulk email.
Overall, it's OK. I wouldn't pay full price again, but if they offer one of those $25 specials, its worth picking up.

Use a separate domain to host email with, with a separate IP. :)
