Mysql Lockups

Hey, we've got somewhere around a million posts, and every once in a while, mysql usage skyrockets, eats all the swap on the box, and pukes. I think it's a locking issue, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience running this thing under InnoDB. We're running 3.0.3, if it matters.

I've seen some posts mentioning InnoDB, but they were OLD, and I was wondering if there were any newer info (nothing in the manual).

I know erwin was running InnoDB but he recently switched back, i know that the search can be rather cumbersom to large sites.
