Well, it looks like the phpbb import still have not been fixed. The first time, (a previous version) it worked, except for the forums/threads/post count import. This time, it refuses to go past the styles import (there are no other styles except for the default of PHPbb.

Ive bought a license awhile ago and been hoping to import my phpbb database, but so far every import release for phpbb have been broken.
Did I waste my money?

The importer just imports the data, after any import, be it phpbb or vBulletin, you need to rebuild the thread counters and then forum counters as well as the search index.

Ive imported several phpbb forums both as a test and one or two for people and it has worked just fine. Did you try not running the style import modual?

Ah... you have to press the styles import module button in order for it to give out the error, basically blank page with a copyright notice on the bottom. Once that happens, you must do a fresh vbulletin install in order to not have any corrupt database.

It does sound like I wasted my money on a forum with no useable phpbb imports. I'll just use the software as a fresh forum for some other site then .. grr, there is no way i will support the phpbb import until it is usable, and will relay that if asked.

Thanks anyways, this is quite disappointing. :( Would be helpfull if it was removed from the imports script until fixed....

Starshift, if your willing could you send me a copy of your database? I can take a stab at importing it as long as you dont mind.

If impex crashes you must run a query in order to rebegin it.

DELETE FROM datastore WHERE title='ImpExSession';

If you would like me to try please drop me an email

A friend of mine had problem with his phpbb board and I told him to get vB lic as its more secure.. he told me he dont' wanna lose his data.. so I took a copy of his database phpbb 2.0.8 and I downloaded vb 3.0.3 installed on my local test server and downloaded the import script and imported his phpbb2 to my vb303 twice.. each time worked with no sweat. So it works

ofcourse I didn't importat from a .sql file,, I had phpbb databse installed in mysql (just incase thats why)

Converter worked fine for me as well. Moved a phpbb DB from one domain to another (Export / Import via SSH) and installed VB then converted the DB over to it via admincp. Worked great.

VB is worth more than you payed for it. :D

Someone should shoot me, i did another import, and this time it worked.. after reinstalling about a dozen times, I figured out what the problem was. When you get to the import styles module, and then click no, then start (to go back to the main menu), the formentioned error happens.

Shoot me shoot me, or my foot, or my toe or...
