Importing from backups?

I was previously running phpBB for my forum and just switched to vBulletin.
I erased my previous database, before installing Vbulletin.
I'm wondering if it is possible for me to import my old database from backups I made prior to deletion from my server? :confused:

try to restore your db back on your phpbb board (if you erased all of the board just reinstall phpbb) .

When you do that it should reput all that data back in the live db and go from there.

I'm sure there is an easier way but that should work.

Thanks for the reply.
I re-installed my phpBB2 board but I couldn't restore the backup as phpBB cannot handle large files when restoring.

At the moment I have both vBulletin and PhpBB on the same server.
I've dropped all tables for both on my server and I have uploaded my phpBB backup to my server.

Can anyone tell me where to go from here?

If I am not mistaken the import scrtip does work on importing from a .sql file .. I mean phpbb database doesn't have to be installed in mysql.. this is what I thought I saw when I used the import few days ago (although I didn't do it that way)

Get the import script if you don't already have it.. its in the download area of members section here

Ok, I'm a total newb so please bear with me.
By import script you mean Impex which I downloaded?
I was just thinking that even if I uploaded Impex to my server now, I couldn't do anything as I've dropped all my php tables on my server, thus I can't access the Admincp to start the import.

So do I have to restore my last vBulletin backup, and then import the old database from the .sql file? Will this overwright the existing data on vBulletin (there are some posts on it but no biggie if it is wiped)?

You need to have both functioning phpBB and vB database.
