Hi,
my name is Ciro and I'd like to change my old forum (more than 3000 users) with vBulletin.

My old forum is phpBB 2.0.4; can I import all my users and messages into vBulletin?

Thanks and sorry for my english, I am an Italian user. :o

Hi there cirdok,

Thank you for your interest in the vBulletin forum software, I am glad you want to import your previous forum data into your upcoming vBulletin.

You could check this thread for details on the vBulletin ImpEx System
Status and Overview, Importer system details (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102412)

It has a link to the details of the phpBB2 Importer.

If you require more information, feel free to ask.

Thank you very much Floris.

Now I try to understand all the VBulletin features (such as disallow some field in registration form like "invisible user", different layout for each forum, italian translation, etc...).

Here I am... again!

My community grow up quickly, now we have more than 3500 members, with 10-20 new users for day. So I would change phpBB forum with a more efficient forum like... this!

Sorry, but I don't find some topics in the Admin Guide:
- can I disallow the field "invisibile user" in registration form? I want all my users... "visible" each other;
- I also want the nick of the "currently active users" visible only at the registered users, is it possible?
- is it possible change the php code?

Thanks in advance, have a good day
Ciro

Yes, you can modify the template and permissions so users are always visible.

Yes, you can limit the who's currently online per usergroup. Even up to the details.

Yes, you can modify the vBulletin source code, but we don't provide support for source code changes.

Other few questions... maybe the last :o

1) can I change the skin of the forum? I'd like to keep our graphics...

2) is it possible to have different graphics for each sub-forums?

3) can I "change the color" of the moderators, user, etc when they are displayed in "who's on-line" (i.e. can I set all nick with the same colors?)

Thanks :)

1) Yes, you can change/add styles with the advanced style manager. (Please note, phpBB's templates are not the same as vBuletin)

2) Not by default. But you may find a modification at http://vbulletin.org

3) Yes.

1- there is a bunch of skins released for free or commercially on the market... you can find a reference here: http://vbulletintemplates.com

2- two cool features for each forum you create: Custom Style for this Forum / Override Users' Style Choice

3- feature for usergroups: Username HTML Markup ... like in phpBB... but you can also have this on user basis... and some hacks are released to let users choose their own style...

You can have unlimited skins, on a per forum basis and each usergroup has XHTML markup input fields to enter your own code in.

I would like to know if Italian language is already supported or, after purchased the license (maybe next week), I have to translate all.

I don't think it's been tested with 2.0.10 yet.
