Ok this is really simple to do. First of all it requires vB3. Go into mozilla or firefox and add a bookmark.
Fill in the fields as follows:
Name: <YourSiteName> Quick Search Trigger
Location: <YourForumsURL>/search.php?q=%s
Keyword: vbqs
Now replace the appropriate bits with your sites information. For example for vBulletin.com quick search it would be:
Name: vB.com Quick Search Trigger
Location: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/search.php?q=%s
Keyword: vbqs

Important points to remember:
The keyword has to be unique for each sites search. So if you have this set up for two sites make sure you have the keyword trigger different for each site otherwise it won't work for both.
