Change columns to horizontal display on home page?

I want to know how to have title of forum on first horizontal line.
Description of forum on second horizontal line.
Last post and info on a third horizontal line.
Sub forum on fourth horizontal line.

As it is everything looks too crowded.

Can someone give me explicit instructions?
