Im gonna restore an old database i have for vbulletin.
I had it when i was on vb 3 rc4.
Is it possible to add it to a vb3 gold database ?
Then im wondering how the heck im gonna add it to the database ?
I have a test server running on my xp machine.
Using php apache and mysql.
Thats about what i have on there. Is there anything ellse i need to have before even attempt this ?
Im gonna get the apache php and mysql info when i get home from work.
Can someone tell me more and explain to me about telnet and stuff like that ? What is it ? How does it work ? How can or can i use it ?
Thanks. Il be back with the information as soon as i can.

You mean you have a live vB3 Gold forum running and want to revert to a backup ? In that case, no you can't add a vB3 RC4 backup into an existing vB3.01 database
You would need to import vB3 RC4 into an empty database and then upgrade that database to vB3.01 but you'd loose all data from the time of backup of your RC4 to present - hence the need for daily backups

There is no vb3 into vb3 import script ready at the moment. (but in development)
You could import the rc4 version and upload the 3.0.1 files and upgrade to 3.0.1 and then save the data until the import script is ready. After which you can import it to your existing live-version 3.0.1

Ok i have installed vb3 rc4 on my test server.
Now how do i replace the db with my saved db ?
I downloaded the database backup using C-panel on my old hosted server.
All i run is php mysql and apache. What ellse do i need ?
myadmin or what ? C-panel ?
Or mayby there is a program that actually can do this stuff ?

phpmyadmin is a handy tool for database management.
Grab that, then configure it with your database info (login, host, password etc) and then point your browser at it.
You can then insert the tables into the database.

Yes, it will timeout with phpmyadmin if it is too big.

Well i found a host that got telnet acces.
I dont know ANYTHING about that stuff.
Is it possible to get some help from any of the vbulletin masters inporting the DB in to the rc4 version on my new server ?
As i said before i downloaded the db backup from within a C-panel. Can i use that backup with telnet ?

AFAIK you will need CPanel on the new server to restore a backup made with CPanel.
