Last chance. need help with cfg.

I have paid ppl to tune this and I still no where. My load hit 53 tonite!
I get page cannot be displayed errors and slowness
I am out of solutions, but there has to be something wrong.
I was getting that link id error from mysql, so i followed the tip in here somwhere about chaging the max requests for apache.

1. dedicated
2. your server specs. For example:

cpu speed/type single or dual cpus): dual p4 xeon 2.4ghz
how much memory installed: 2gb ram
hard drive type/configuration: 2x73gb scsi non raid
linux distributor or windows version: redhat ent 3
apache version: apache 1.3.29

3. if you use mysql 4.x instead of mysql 3.23.x, do you have any innodb type databases/tables on your server ?

sorry been having ADSL drop outs and must of missed this thread update :o

seems from the script's extended-status output for mysql, you're swapping to disk by a LARGE amount 870800k used in swap! this will cause cpu loads to skyrocket and crash mysql = connection failed messages!

which was your originally problem you had 1GB swap usage from first post stats you posted!

The my.cnf i recommended should of helped unless memory consumption isn't mysql/vB related ? ya got any other perl/php/cgi/mysql scripts on the server ? maybe banner serving script ?

can you post output of this command to see if the my.cnf settings i recommended took affect

i got more of the link errors today. will more ram fix it? even tho i can't get any ram right now. damn ev1!!
i was thinking of leaving the dual xeon to the db and getting a single p4 for the webserver. would that help?
