A couple other things that could be made user selectable...

Posts per page
If the board owner were able to set up max posts per page, the user could then select how many posts they wanted to see per page up to a max of whatever.
This would help out people with slower modems, memory limitations, WebTV users, etc.

Default Font Size
Entering a +/- variable would help people with vision problems, piss-poor monitors etc.


I've seen both these options made available on another mySQL BB, so I know they're possible :)

Posts per page sounds like a good option. I have a few ideas of making the board more customisable by the user, so I will add this to the list.

Font size could be a bit more tricky. I'm not an HTML guru, so I don't think that there is any way to do this through some HTML wizardry AFAIK. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll have a think about the best way to do this that is not too server intensive.

well, I'm not a PHP guru, so mebbe together we can sort this out?

I'm making a few assumptions here, since I haven't seen the CP yet, but I assume that when you set up the board, you define default font and default font size, let's say verdana 2.
Now, that's a fairly small font. Some people might have trouble reading it.

If there were an offset, similar to the one used for time zones, it could be included in the display coding as a variable, something like:
fontsize + useroffset

A drop-down in the profile would be easiest to use because there are only 7 font sizes available in HTML, so it could be set up from -3 to +3.

Can't you just allow to put the font size as a cookie, and have a style section where the font size is set to the cookie, and if there isn't one it is set to a normal size?
