Hi!
Everytime I do an import from phpBB2 although I run the scripts for clearing the previous imported data, the auto_increment fields do not reset.
For example, my first forumid is now 140
The same stands for posts and threads. Nothing is reset. The counter just goes on....
Is this going to cause any problems?

Does reset for which tables ?
If you are only doing a partail import yes it will mess things up.

Hi Jerry,
In your Sticky you gave us a script to clear the imported data in case we need to do another import.
This script clears some tables. If you do another import then the auto-increment fields keep counting and they do not start from 0.
I don't understand what is your question and I don't understand what you mean that this will mess things up.
I can't install VB3 from the beginning. I have already applied custom CSS. If the script is only for testing VB3 and not a step before the final import then I think you should have mentioned that because waiting for the import to FINALY work I have started doing the rest I want to do with the forum configuration.

You asked is this going to case any problem is the auto inc being out, the answer is yes if you are running modules on their own and not the whole import.

I don't understand what you mean here at all. An import is always going to need cleaning up, there is never a 100% perfect import and when you keep running the importer modules they will do their best to clean up after themselves but doing a whole import in one go is the only way to do it propperly.
What do you mean "FINALLY work" ? There have been loads of imports done with the phpBB importer as it is, if you are modifying the database behind the scenes seprate to what impex is trying to do I can't see how it can stand a chance.
If you clean out all the tables and run the import again it dosn't matter that the auto inc starts as a diffrent number because it will still link to the import ids that are created in the tables and then linked to the other import id regarless of what the auto inc ids are.
I've updated the SQL file if you really want the auto inc's it be reset.

Jerry,
everytime, I do the whole import from the beginning, after I have ran the scripts for clearing the affected tables.
I just asked about the auto-increment fields because I noticed that everytime I do an import they start where they were left from the last import.
So, I guess we mean the same thing and from what I understand I do not have to install VB3 from the beginning.
Where did I say I have been modifying the database? I have not touched it at all. No hucks at all installed. I just play with the colours of my site.
As far as for those you say that have successfully imported their phpbb2 then you say that you have solved the problem with PMs and that you have solved the problem with bbcode [font] parsing, and that you have solved the problem I found yesterday about imported forums not showing who is browing those forums. If you solved those problems I'm happy to hear it.
But, if someone here posts a thread saying that he has imported successfuly from phpBB2 maybe it is his first impression and hasn't looked at the above problems which definetly exist (and not only for me).
I consider PMs an important issue and so is Active users list browsing the forums.
Will you please update us on when those two will be fixed?
Regards,
Nektarios.

I update the status thread as I get things done, most of the things you have mentioned have been sorted.

Thank you Jerry.
My intention was not to argue with you! I simply got desperate not seeing any progress.

Nektarios.
