I haven't submitted this to the Bug Tracker yet, wanted to hear others opinion first.
When I'm browsing the Forum Home (index.php) and I see that 1 forum has the forum_new.gif image (which means it contains new posts), I often click on the direct link to the thread/post in the Last Post column. After I've read the post, I browse back to Forum Home using the link in the nav bar (or the bar showing where you are + PM counter). And the forum still show the forum:new.gif icon, meaning it's still got an unread post. But when I browse the forum, there are no new posts. When I then go back to Forum Home, the forum show forum_old.gif as it is supposed to do.
So, it looks like you have to browse the forum in order to get all posts marked as read in Forum Home, and that it won't update if you use the direct link to the post within the forum.
