On the whole I'm very happy with the move from PhpBB to vB, I have a question about Google though, I used to get spidered at least twice a week before the change, now I have only been spidered twice I think, if you stick this into Google you will see my past and present spiders: - site:www.chetnet.co.uk (http://www.chetnet.co.uk/) -gfdsgfdsgfdsg
What has happened and how can I resolve it, my site is at www.chetnet.co.uk/portal (http://www.chetnet.co.uk/portal)

Also on another note, my forums are for NTL cable modem support, we have over 2000 users but they only come when they have a fault, I would like users to come back more often and not just when they have a fault, I have installed the arcades which has gone down a storm but I think it lack something else, if you do visit my site could you give me feedback on it what else I can do to attract more users

think about changing the colours, really no effort has gone into that, even nthellworld put a different shade of blue on their's ghehe.

oh yeh, i'm on ntl and i have a fault, shall i report it here or just post it on your site and come back 8 weeks later like ntl callout technicians do ghehe.

This thread has no relevance on where you find the resolution to your fault, but now that you have mentioned it why not give us a try, I'm sure we could help.
As for changing colours, not sure how this can bring users to the forums, you say its lazy to stick with the same colours, if you can not be constitutive then please do not reply.

ok, so you don't want to change the look of your board, fine, i'll be constructive instead. you are an unofficial site, you cannot offer the level of tech support ntl can so that puts you at a disadvantage straight away when it comes to keeping users, maybe you should try to get users using smaller isp's who do not have the wide range of support that a company like ntl offers, maybe if you can get a few experts in from them then that could bring users in. it's tricky though, you need to think about making your forums stand out from all the rest in some manner. for me, i would always compare an unofficial site to an official one which is maybe unfair but that's the way a lot of people will view it and they might see no advantage to coming to an unofficial site for regular support. in the end it will probably come down to having a core group of members who really know their stuff, be it on ntl or broadband problems in general.

personally, i like unofficial ntl sites, i can have a good moan about their poor service without getting my head bit off by some snotty CS rep.

Thanks for the reply, the only reason its unofficial is because NTL have been bitten before with a certain help site and I have not approached my director for sponsorship because of that
I don't think that my site is at a disadvantage because all the mods do work for NTL customers services, also one thing that may help us out,,,,,I was one of the original designers who put the NTL broadband network together, so on the whole we will stick with NTL support.
