I am thinking of launching another forum, and want to build it test out how it would work, style etc, before I decide if I want to go ahead or not on my Private developement server. Is this allowed (none public Access of course).

i have a new idea but want to test run it before I commit to another Licecence (the last referral I did from my site I didn't get the ******* commisison).

Yes, as long as it's a test forum and not publicly accessible.

Well my Dev Server is publicly accessable but know one knows the URL and it's not linked. I sometimes need feedback etc.

Never had a problem yet.

Just put it behind an htaccess login to make it inaccessible.

It should.... what OS version are you running? My local dev server uses .htaccess protection.

10.2.8 but also 10.3.3 on my main computer doesn't support .htaccess says . files are reserved for the system

Do you have BBEdit? If so, try making it in that... or if you don't have it, try this: http://www.codingmonkeys.de/subethaedit/index.html

By default, Mac OS X's Finder doesn't allow .* files.

But, if you make a file that starts with a '.' the Finder will hide it from you.

BBEdit and Finder are refusing to let me save files with . for the start of the file name. This is why I don't htaccess protect my sites. I could just do it in Virtual hosts (I have no monitor on my dev server).

What's the done I need in <Directory /> to restrict access? I will just put it in the Virtual Host (know anyway to get BBEdit 6.5 to connect to my Dev Server see the /etc/httpd and be able to save files as root without having to move then via the Cammand Line?).

If you never got your comission you should put in a support email and James or Ashley will make sure you get it.
